I had the opportunity to travel to Dharwad stay in a village, where I disconnected for four days with no cellular service. During this time I had the chance to meet Midwife Ms. Annapurna who has conducted more than 100 childbirths. Working in this profession for 10 - 15 years assisting in childbirth. Women in other villages invite her to their village to stay until the baby is born, she travels 20 - 30 kilometers by foot. Delivering 15 - 20 babies per year, Ms. Annapurna receives one coconut and incense stick in return as payment.
