JSS Hospital Visit
On May 15, 2018 The Florida International University students got the opportunity to visit JSS hospital in Mysore, India. JSS is known as one the largest hospitals in India, catering to patients with a 1,800 beds under one roof. Including one of the biggest critical and emergency care holding 260 beds.
herbal garden
Traveling in an over night train to Dharwad to experience a tribal camp for four days. During this stay the Florida International University students had no cellular service and had to learn to disconnect while connecting with nature and each other. In this nature experience we had the chance to visit a herbal garden and discuss on medical plants.
jss ayurveda hospital & medical college
On May 21, 2018 I had the chance to learn about Ayurvedic medicine on another level. Touring the JSS Ayurveda hospital and medical college I was fortunate to see first hand how herbs were prepared for healing techniques. The rooms for massage therapies, where the students partake in lectures as well as see medical plants on campus.
mobile clinic
On May 23, 2018 the Public Health Research Institute of India (PHRII) held a mobile camp in a near by village where the staff screened women for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer. The screenings happen every 15days in selected areas in Mysore to help women who are not able to go get screened themselves.
